Hello and welcome! We’re Rick and Rebekah Porterfield and if you’re seeking Biblical marriage advice, you’ve come to the right place. Our marriage was a train wreck for the first two years. A Ph.D. Psychologist we went to for help advised us to divorce; she said we were the only hopeless couple she had seen in her 15 years of practice. It was bad. That’s when God got a hold of us and made our relationship better than we could have imagined. We now teach others to experience this same restoration and constant improvement in their own relationships.

In 1994, we answered God’s call to start a marriage ministry. The ministry grew to include ministry for premarital couples, stepfamilies, and parents. We have ministered to hundreds of couples here at home and in Europe, and the Biblical principles we teach get results. In fact, when both spouses apply these principles, we’ve seen 100% of marriages saved and improved. It works every time because it’s God’s plan.

We are the authors of Marriage By The Book and we have several audio teaching series available on our Store page. We are also the senior pastors of Faith Family Church and the proud parents of four children, two sons and two daughters, ranging in age from 13 to 23.

We use humor, object lessons and compelling biblical truths to teach and equip you to enjoy the great marriage that God wants for you.

The vision of Marriage By The Book is to see the divorce rate in the church cut in half within 10 years and eventually to see it reduced to such an extent that it becomes the envy of the secular world.

Researchers tell us that the divorce rate in the church is about equal to the divorce rate outside the church. This shouldn’t be so since the Bible has the answers to not only stop divorce, but to turn every marriage into a great marriage.

This vision can be accomplished, using the principles taught in Marriage by The Book.
