o-HAPPY-COUPLE-facebookA Prayer for Marriage

You need to pray for your marriage. James 5:13 says, “Is anyone troubled, let him pray.” If your marriage is troubled, you need to be praying for it. Even if your relationship is great, you still need to be praying for your marriage to avoid getting into trouble.

Whether your marriage is troubled or not, here is a prayer you can use.

Father, I thank You for my marriage and for my spouse. I choose to value and honor my spouse. Help make my marriage into the marriage that You want it to be.

I ask You to help me better understand and honor the marriage covenant. I ask You to help me understand and walk more and more in Your kind of love in every area, and especially in my marriage.

My relationship with my spouse is my primary relationship on this earth, second only to my relationship with You. I will prefer my relationship with my spouse above my relationships with my parents, siblings, children, and friends.

Through love I will serve my spouse. I will seek to meet their needs, wants, and desires, and trust You to take care of my own. I will seek to know my spouse more and more so that I can love them more perfectly, and so that I can be the best mate for them that I can be.

I will be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. I will forgive my spouse quickly when needed, and when I offend them I will quickly ask their forgiveness.

I will seek to serve their best interests, rather than just my own, in my actions and decisions. I will be faithful to my spouse whether I am with them or not. I will be faithful with my body, my eyes, my ears, and my mind. I will take captive any thought, and not speak any word, that would bring division and death into our relationship.

We are one in your site, and I will maintain unity in our relationship, and I thank You that You will command the blessing on our household. We are joined together by You and will not be divided, but we will grow closer in intimacy and love for each other.

In Jesus name, Amen!
